Magnum Opus School of the Arts opened September 2022! Our mission is to create a Christ-centered environment that nurtures the artistic abilities that God has placed in each and every one of us.

Our beautiful new space is location at 4226 Argosy Court!

Registration for summer classes will be open on May 21st!

Training at Magnum Opus School of the arts is more then just honing your art form. We believe that art prepares young children for well-rounded life styles as well as enriches our whole being. You will also find a class no matter your age or ability. Whether you hop into our Simply Seniors class, or try picking up a violin for the first  time, there is a place for you at Magnum Opus!

All of our staff is dedicated to not only teaching, but mentoring our students. Each teacher longs to encourage their students in their art form, as well as pray for them and walk beside them in all areas of life.

Little Ballerinas, Cutie Patooties &

Dancing Dreamers

 Exploring movement and rhythm, with creative imagery, props, using the basics of ballet!

Ballerinas, Monday 3:30-4:00 (3-4)

Cuties, Monday, 4:00-4:30 (5-6)

Dreamers, Thursday 4:00-4:30 ( 6-7)

Intro to Ballet A and B

 

Introducing you to the basics of ballet for all ages. Learning, proper arm positions, leg and foot positions, and classical terminology. 

Intro A, Wednesday 4:00-4:45 (7-11)

Intro B, Tuesday, 4:15-5:00 (7-11)

Beginning Ballet

 

Going more in depth with the foundation of ballet

Tuesday 4:00-5:00 PM

Intermediate Ballet

 

Expanding on classical ballet technique, and continuing to learn new terminology.

Tuesday 5:00-6:00 AND

Thursday 4:30-5:30

Advanced Ballet

Focusing on advanced footwork, jumps, turns, and extensions. A minimum of three years of ballet is required before taking this class

Monday 5:45-7:00 AND

Thursday 4:30-5:45

Strength and Conditioning

Focusing on overall strength, as well as conditioning the whole body.

This is a great class for anyone who wants to cross train as well as prepare for pointe shoes.

Tuesday 6:00-6:30 (all ages)

Pointe

Pointe shoes are a two hundred year old classical tradition in ballet! Receiving them is a high honor. You must be enrolled in advanced ballet to take this class.

Youth Classical Contemporary 

Classical Contemporary fuses jazz, ballet, and modern together and allows for individual expression while maintaining dance technique in the classroom.

Teen Classical Contemporary

Classical Contemporary fuses jazz, ballet, and modern together and allows for individual expression while maintaining dance technique in the classroom.

Youth Jazz

Dancing to energetic and upbeat music while learning the fundamentals of classic jazz technique with a twist!

Home School Dance and Mini's

During this homeschool class we will go through the basics of ballet, classical modern, and jazz. As well as overall conditioning!

Teen Acting

Learning how to deliver lines, create dialogue and understand behind the scenes of theatre.

*This is a workshop based class. 4 Saturday workshops throughout the school year.* (12+)

Theatre Fusion

A fun, high energy class that will cover a little of everything! From theater dance, to vocal techniques and rhythm exercises. We’ll sing and learn some popular numbers from the musical theater world and maybe even a tap dance or two!

Dance Fitness

 Want a good workout but in an environment where you know you will also hear clean music, be constantly encouraged, and have one on one attention? Then join our Dance Fitness class. A class that will combine elements of cardio, strength, and mat work, in a high energy format! 

 

Monday 6:30-7:15 (18+)

Manda Panda Program

This program focuses on teens and adults with down syndrome and special abilities. Bringing joy, confidence, mobility and strength to every dance move!

Monday 5:00-5:40 (12+)

Beginner Violin and private coaching

Take a beginner violin or cello class and understand the value of learning the fundamentsals of music and rhythm.

Thursday 4:35-5:05 Violin

This class is great for young boys and girls! It gets out lots of energy in a fun, productive, and learning experience!

 

Wednesday 5:30-6:00

Open to all ages

Session two starts on January 15th and finishes with our big Spring Showcase at the Monona Grove High School on May 18th!(Dress rehearsal is required on May 17th)

                                                 What do I wear?

  • Cutie Patooties and Dancing Dreamers: Feel free to wear what makes you feel amazing. Hair pulled back and ballet shoes. 

  • Ballet Girls: Solid black leotard, pink tights, black dance skirt is optional. Ballet shoes and hair in a bun.

  • Ballet Boys: White t-shirt and comfortable black pants.

  • Classical Contemporary, Jazz, and Home school Dance: Black leggings or fitted black pants, plain shirt or leotard with your leggings. (In the warmer months you may wear black shorts) Classical contemporary, barre foot or turners. Jazz. black jazz shoes. Home school dance, ballet shoes. 

  • Manda Panda Program and Theatre Fusion: Stretchy, movable, and comfortable shirt and pants. Hair pulled back and your choice of ballet shoes, jazz shoes, or turners. Please no socks. 

  • Adult ballet: You are welcome to wear a leotard and tights, or any type of workout attire. Ballet shoes required.

  • Theatre, and Manda Panda: Feel to get dance sneakers if you prefer.

Who are my teachers?

Our teachers are experienced professional artists that long to give their gifts back to the community and train the next generation to connect their faith and art!

Do I get to perform?

Yes! On May 17th and 18th everyone in our Fine Arts Programs will have the exciting opportunity to perform with our professional company at the Monona Grove Auditorium!
